Depolluting the outside air of a schoolyard: an impossible challenge?


Thursday August 31, 10 a.m. The young students at the Victoire school in Paris 9 have not yet returned to school, and yet there are already many things going on within the walls... and outside!

In fact, we often talk about the quality of indoor air in schools – often poor –, a proven and influential factor in the success and well-being of schoolchildren. Since January 1, 2023, specific regulations have also emerged, requiring this type of tertiary building to carry out regular and increased monitoring of its means of ventilation and its ventilation devices (among others). But what is less said is that the quality of outdoor air is also very important. This is particularly true in Paris and other metropolises, where the very dense flow of people, vehicles and various activities causes significant pollution in the air. Difficulty concentrating, loss of cognitive abilities, spread of various viruses... The risks are numerous.
